The Concert Artist Series at Haverford College presents internationally acclaimed Lebanese oud player, vocalist, composer, and peace activist Marcel Khalifé in the premiere of his new work Elégie l'Orient (Chants of the East) for choir, Arabic tahkt ensemble, and Western chamber orchestra. This concert will be held in Roberts Hall, Marshall Auditorium.
The Chamber Singers will be joined by the tahkt ensemble of Al Bustan Seeds of Culture, Hanna Khoury, director, and the Keystone State Boychoir, Joseph Fitzmartin and Steven Fisher, directors, and a chamber orchestra, conducted by Thomas Lloyd. The Chamber Singers alone will also perform a set of original compositions by Turkish composers brought back from their 2010 collaborative concert tour in Turkey.
